ive been looking at some videos in seeing Link fight, and one of the things i've noticed about his boomerang is *expects criticism in 3 2 1.* it doesn't seem to be doing damage. Is this true? i know that it can pull people and items, but it just doesn't seem to be doing damage.

I think it only does damage while its going forward, but I could be completely wrong.

Yeah it just pulls your opponent towards you after the initial hit.

I love using the boomerang! I never actually noticed Link's boomerang pulling people towards you in Melee, is it new to Brawl?

I hope the boomerang still "pops" people upwards slightly. That made for some great combos/interruption.

Yeah interruption on the drawback owns, people seem to forget that the boomerang differs from other projectiles that being it goes around and comes right back for more.

I hope I can do this as an edgeguard:
throw the boomerang towards center stage, jump before the the boomerang is caught, and hit a returning player with the tornado, pulling them further from the edge.
A little complicated, but it would look pretty cool if it was effective.

This might be good against gliding characters, but any other character it seems like it would be too long of a process in order to prevent them from reaching the edge, especially with the new edge-snap thingy that's been put in the game.

Something tells me that the boomer will pwn a lot in Brawl... Pehaps the msot effective projectile ever is being delivered to us Link palyers =)

You can use your boomerang to edgeguard. Link may be the best edge guarder in the game if his boomerang brings your opponent into a charged up spin attack! Just think of how many edge guarding options that would open up.

I think you should use the tornado to pull people into your final smash. Apparantly the higher percentage the player is at the further they get pulled toward you, so it would be effective when your going for that final blow.

Ahahaha..
I like how the boomerang has been put into Brawl, don't get me wrong. But I'm still finding myself trying to get used to it, I mean, it seems odd having a tornado bounce, and how will you aim properly with it it seems so big?
I'm just being picky, I think.

I have been thinking about something.
When your opponent is trying to recover, and you throw the GB and it "hits". Will it pull into the level only to have them bounce off the sides to their death?

Hmm... If bombs could be picked up or moved with the boomerang (like in LOZ:TP), then Link would have to be careful about not hitting himself with the bomb... which appears to have been buffed... ouch.
However, smash throwing a boomerang behind someone, then charging the spin attack and... GYAAAA!!!
but, it fails when they dodge the boomerang X).

the bombs do seem to be buffed, and you could use the boomerang on the return trip to draw enemies close while you charge and attack

i was wondering, 'does the boomerang damage both times, once, or not at all?' well, i answered my own question. in this video around 0:25, you can see that it does do damage on the initial throw, but only pushes enemies around on the return trip.

Strange question, but do we know if when the boomerang is coming back, will it stop enemy grabs? I find myself a lot in melee (not trying to compare the games) useing the boomerang, haveing them dodge and grab me, just to have my boomerang come back and hit him before he throws. Hopefully something like that still happens, or maybe I am the only one who has that problem. *shrug*
But anyway! New boomerang = win! And also the new bombs should be awesome if they are as buffed as I hear they are.

Yeah, wouldn't doubt it.
They probably nerfed it to try and make it more of move used to set up moves
Like throw the boomerang and charge up the up b till your opponent gets close enough...
I'm fine with it, But I'm going to start to need to combo with it more instead of using it as an attack projectile...
Wuteva, still gots mah bombs though :)

It only does damage when the boomerang hits them, I'm pretty sure. On the way back, the person it hits is usually on the ground, not high enough for the boomerang itself to hit them.
