I feel like it is fairly likely that Mii costumes justify the Mii's existences from the perspective of Nintendo. I can't see them getting the boot to be completely honest.

I would say that argument is sound. It just bothers me how people act like a character wouldn’t be able to happen because people would be paying for them twice when Nintendo has never given us any reason to think they would care about something like that.
